Panola Public School provides a coherent, aligned PK–8 academic program built on high expectations, research-based instructional practices, and a focus on foundational literacy and grade-level content. Our curriculum emphasizes strong reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, and enrichment experiences.

Our literacy program is grounded in the Science of Reading and includes:
  • Systematic phonics and foundational skills instruction
  • Daily knowledge-building reading lessons

  • Universal screening and progress monitoring

Students receive daily, structured math instruction focused on building procedural fluency, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills. Instruction includes:

Science & social studies

Our knowledge-building units connect science and history content with literacy development. Students explore:

The district uses a unified assessment system to monitor student learning and adjust instruction. This includes:
  • Universal Screeners (BOY/MOY/EOY)
  • State testing (OSTP)
  • Progress monitoring for intervention

Panola’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports provides targeted help for students who need additional assistance.

Tier 1: High-quality, grade-level instruction in every classroom
Tier 2: Small-group intervention based on progress monitoring data
Tier 3: Intensive, individualized intervention for students with significant needs
